SICH Tourniquet | Does it hold up?
We found SICH (Strengthened Individual Combat Hybrid) tourniquet when searching for an alternative for CAT gen 7, which is a great TQ but for some reason very expensive and hard to get in Europe.
SICH peaked our interest because it works almost the same but has all metal fittings. The company claims that this makes SICH resistant to damage and useful in adverse conditions.
Before ordering a whole case of these, we decided to put them through our tests.
To help with the video we asked Luka, our friend that is a combat medic in ESD (Slovenian military special forces). Before agreeing to the video, he tested SICH by himself and concluded that these are worth his time and good name.
The tests shown in the video are not a part of any standard testing. These were made to push SICH to extreme for the video. Tests like these can irreversibly damage any tourniquet and make it unsafe for use.
Please don’t try this at home!
We are very excited about the SICH tourniquet and we want to show how great it is, so the editing and video design reflects this. But nevertheless, all tests were 100% real – we used the same tourniquet for all the tests and last application.
The tourniquet used in the video was frozen for 3 days, thrown on the ground, hit with a blunt part of the axe, tow a car 4 times and was driven over 2 times.
The tourniquet is slightly damaged and deformed but still works properly. After the tests we made several successful applications to arms and legs with Luka’s supervision.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to acquire a Pulse-Doppler in time for the video to show the effectiveness of the abused SICH, but we are so sure that it still works that we are willing to send it to any medical professional to examine and test it for us.
The only thing we ask in return would be a short video showing the testing and results.
